Netflix has renewed Haunted Hotel for a third season, with a return planned for 2027. The announcement came on October 30, after season 2 arrived on October 9, according to UPI. The animated comedy follows Katherine, who takes over the haunted Undervale Hotel with help from her late brother Nathan, now a ghost. Jimmi Simpson voices Abaddon, a demon trapped in the body of an 18th-century boy.
That setup gives the show a sturdy comic engine: a family managing a haunted hotel, with a demon in the orbit of its daily life. A third season gives the series room to make the Undervale more than a setting for paranormal interruptions. New crises can keep arriving, but Katherine’s family and the hotel’s regulars need to change too. Otherwise, the place risks becoming a very well-stocked revolving door.
Season 2 missed Netflix’s weekly English-language TV Top 10 in its first week, then placed ninth in its second, with 2.7 million views, What’s on Netflix reports. That chart movement suggests a delayed start followed by a solid week. It says little about Netflix’s expectations for season 3. The same outlet reports that showrunner Matt Roller intended a ten-episode season, though Netflix has not confirmed an episode count.
The 2027 return keeps the show on a roughly annual schedule. The more interesting opportunity is to let the people who live and work at the Undervale develop alongside its inventory of horrors. A hotel can fill vacancies indefinitely. A series needs its regulars to feel like more than permanent staff.
