Nobody Wants This

Season 3 of Nobody Wants This moves Joanne and Noah into a home together, then asks what their relationship looks like once the grand romantic choice is made. Netflix’s synopsis, reported by Marie Claire, says they will embrace the “first” experiences of building a life together after recommitting at the end of season 2. Sasha and Esther are thrust back into dating, Morgan’s career advances, and her unresolved connection with Sasha remains in play.

That is a smart next step for a comedy built around a couple with different religious commitments. A declaration of love makes a satisfying finale; sharing a home gives the story more room to get specific. Habits, family expectations and compromises rarely arrive with swelling music, which is exactly why they can make good comedy. The move gives Joanne and Noah a fresh set of problems beyond another cycle of near-breakups.

The other relationships have useful complications. Esther and Sasha’s dating lives could make their separation feel like a genuine change, while Morgan’s career gives her a direction beyond romance. But the synopsis also puts Sasha and Morgan’s unspoken connection in the foreground. That could produce good awkwardness. It could also make Esther’s separation feel like a layover on the way to pairing off the siblings, which would shrink her story just as it starts to open up.

The premise works best if the new arrangements matter on their own terms. Joanne’s future should not become a conversion plot with a simple pass mark, and Esther’s separation deserves more than a temporary shuffle before the couples reset. Moving in together is promising because it lets the show test what commitment looks like on an ordinary Tuesday. The comedy has a home to build; it should let the people in it stay complicated.
