Percy Jackson’s third season begins with a rescue mission: Annabeth has been captured by Kronos’s forces, and Percy sets out to bring her back. Disney’s official announcement and trailer say the season adapts Rick Riordan’s third book, The Titan’s Curse, for the first time. It premieres with two episodes on November 20, followed by two episodes each week on Disney+ and Hulu.
That opening puts a relationship at the story’s center. Disney’s synopsis says Percy believes he would be lost without Annabeth. A rescue quest can make that bond feel urgent, but it also risks reducing Annabeth to the person everyone else has to retrieve. The season will be more interesting if her absence changes the group’s decisions and the shape of the adventure, rather than functioning as a convenient starting gun.
There is plenty of machinery around the mission: Percy must free a goddess in chains, confront the Titan’s curse and avoid triggering Olympus’s fall. Grover joins him, along with “unlikely questmates,” and a prophecy brings “dire consequences.” That is a crowded itinerary. The show’s challenge is making those dangers feel connected to the characters, instead of checking off mythological obstacles like stops on a very perilous tour.
The two-episode premiere is a sensible way to launch a story with this much setup. Weekly releases after that can give each complication room to land. The season’s clearest test is whether Annabeth remains a force in the story while Percy is trying to save her.
