The Hunting Wives gets season 3 before season 2 has its say

Netflix has renewed The Hunting Wives ahead of season 2’s November 26 return. The early order buys time, but the next season still has to earn a third.

The Hunting Wives

Netflix has renewed The Hunting Wives for an eight-episode third season before season 2 arrives on November 26, according to TVLine. Creator and showrunner Rebecca Cutter says the new season will be “even more scandalous and twisted.” Details such as a release date, synopsis and casting changes have not been announced.

That is a substantial vote of confidence, and a slightly strange one: season 2 has not yet had its chance to show viewers what the series can do next. Netflix is committing to more Maple Brook before the audience can judge the return. For viewers, that removes one familiar suspense from the schedule: the show’s future is secure for now. It also means season 2 can set up a longer run without pretending its story must end there.

The risk is that advance certainty can become a creative blank cheque. A promise of extra scandal is easy to make; escalation alone tends to turn a juicy drama into a louder one. The more useful test is whether the new season gives its characters consequences that can sustain another eight episodes. A third-season order creates room to plan, but it cannot supply that purpose by itself.

For now, the order shifts attention back to season 2. If it makes the return feel like a genuine next chapter, Netflix’s early bet will look shrewd. If it mainly keeps the machinery of twists running, the third season will inherit a renewal and a problem.
